Meet the Staff
Barbara Buyers, Owner
Barbara began her court reporting career in April of
1980 working in the freelance field. She obtained her CSR certification in
October of 1986 and her RPR certification in November of 1986. In August
of 1987, along with her partner Karen Kaczor, they started Buyers and
Kaczor Reporting Services, which is still operating today. Karen
retired from the court reporting profession in October of 2002.
Barb and Karen did closed captioning for the hearing impaired for 13
years and also did a three-year stint with a hearing impaired law student at the
State University of New York at Buffalo, going to classes with him and
real-timing the lectures. They are proud of the fact that he earned
his law degree with their help.
Barb has done a variety of depositions, court proceedings,
arbitrations, Grand Jury and night court work, expedited and daily copy
included.
Carolyn Kerr, Reporter
Carolyn has been a court reporter for seven and a half years, all of
which has been at Buyers & Kaczor Reporting. She has experience in
medical malpractice, environmental law, labor law, including
arbitrations and Section 75 proceedings, federal court trials and grand
jury. She also has done innumerable depositions in personal injury and
other civil matters.
Prior to becoming a court reporter,
Carolyn enjoyed a career in broadcasting, mainly as a traffic reporter.
She also has experience as an on-air personality, promotions director,
and in programming. A lifelong Western New Yorker, Carolyn graduated
from the University of Buffalo with a BA in Communications. She also
graduated from Stenographic Institute of Western New York. She lives in
the Town of Tonawanda with her husband, Tim, and two teenage sons.
Dawn Siters, Reporter
Dawn has been working as a court reporter for Buyers & Kaczor for the
past four years, after receiving her certification from the Stenographic
Institute of Western New York. Her experience in the firm has
included deposition testimony, public hearings, as well as work in Federal
Bankrupty Court and Grand Jury.
Michelle Harding, Reporter
Michelle joined Buyers & Kaczor in August of 2008. She obtained a
Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Rochester Institute
of Technology and completed her court reporting studies at Alfred State
College. Michelle is a native of Rochester, NY and currently resides
with her husband, Greg, and their Labrador retriever, Max, in Clarence,
NY.
Michelle Kwiatek, Reporter
Michelle has been a court reporter for 11 years, 8 of which has been
with Buyers & Kaczor Reporting. She has an Associate's Degree from
Alfred State College. She has experience in grand jury, public
hearings, bankruptcy court, and depositions. She is a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls.
